Golden Sunshine
As a child, my great-grandmother sold butter made by her mother to neighbors throughout her community. Their last name was "Golden" and they had a special butter mold depicting a sun and lettering which read, "Golden Sunshine." It's my life's quest to find that butter mold. We can't pass an antique store without my husband saying, "golden sunshine" to me--his way of teasing me about my silly fixation about this illusive family heirloom.
While selecting a color for this dresser and nightstand set, I stumbled upon "cornflower"--a happy yellow that made me think of Golden Sunshine. I love the shape of these two beauties: finished with a scrolling, serpentine front and edging, these ornate pieces combine a classy look with a vintage feel. The floral-print drawer detail was a first for me, and I love the rose-colored glass knobs that are just the perfect compliment.
I love your descriptions! Suddenly my life feels disturbingly incomplete because I don't have any cheerful butter-yellow furniture here. Why aren't advertising firms beating down your door trying to hire you??
ReplyDeleteGorgeous work, Darice! I still would really love to come peer over your shoulder sometime and see how you work your magic!
