If You Can't Take the Heat...

Here's a fun break from the traditional furniture "re-do." For Christmas, my husband and I converted an old entertainment unit into a play kitchen for our little ones (though I admit to playing with it too). We had to replace the glass doors with wood, make a hinged oven door, cut a hole for the sink, have an appliance recycle company reserve knobs from old ovens and stoves, track down a reasonably-priced faucet...but all that was easy compared to the struggle I had in coming up with the right color. First I painted it orange, then red, and finally green. The fun was stocking it with retro kitchenware we salvaged from thrift stores and flea markets.
