Bas Bleu: French for Blue Stocking, a term used to describe a "literary woman." I thought this term could be applied to this "smart-looking" dresser and table. Admittedly vibrant in color, these pieces are more versatile than you may think--complimented by other bold colors, or happy to play the dominant part to more subtle hues.
I loved this dresser from the moment I saw it. Even down to the original hardware than I had to keep (generally that's the first thing to go). The dresser is made of sturdy dove-tail construction (trust me, I had to move it a few times) and boasts of not one, but two partitioned drawers (oh, the possibilities!). The side table/night stand has a fun shell detail on one side that really added a little somethin' to it.
I have seen your postings on craigslist and am in love with all your pieces!!! I saw the "bas bleu" post today and your blog address so had to come check it out...beautiful and inspiring work you do on these pieces of furniture..LOVE IT!
